At 84, Judd continues to bring experience, leadership and steady dedication to American brick manufacturing at the company’s Merry Oaks plant.

MONCURE, N.C., Aug. 19, 2026. Triangle Brick Company team members gathered at its Merry Oaks manufacturing plant in Chatham County on Aug. 18 to celebrate Harvis Judd, an 84-year-old employee whose 63 years of service have helped shape the company’s culture and operations.
During the ceremony, Lindsay Courtney, regional director for south-central North Carolina in Budd’s office, presented Judd with a letter of recognition from the senator. The letter honored Judd’s exceptional work ethic, leadership and enduring service to not only Triangle Brick, but the larger Chatham County community as a whole. It was read aloud to Judd, alongside his teammates all gathered to celebrate his impact.
“From starting your career in the yard to your promotion to yard supervisor, your exceptional work ethic is unmatched,” Budd wrote. “Over the course of six decades, your hard work and commitment helped shape the culture of Triangle Brick.”
Judd began his career with Triangle Brick on Feb. 26, 1963, only a few years after the company was founded. He started in the yard and later earned a promotion to yard supervisor. Over more than six decades, he has witnessed the continued evolution of U.S. brick manufacturing while earning the respect of generations of colleagues. At 84, he remains an active and valued member of the Merry Oaks team.

While Judd’s tenure is amongst the longest of the TBC team, he is not the only one with decades of experience not just within the brick industry, but within our own manufacturing plants.
Many of Triangle Brick’s employees have 20+ years of service, and it’s largely due to the culture established around celebrating the value and importance of every member of the organization. Triangle Brick President Howard Brown joined fellow company leaders and employees for the presentation. He spoke about Judd’s influence inside the plant and throughout the greater community, then thanked him personally for the example he has set.
“That’s really one of the great reasons we’re put here on this earth, to make it a better place. And you certainly have,” Brown told Judd.
Judd’s tenure reflects the human expertise behind advanced American manufacturing. Triangle Brick is one of the leading U.S. brick manufacturers, with manufacturing operations in North Carolina and Texas that produce more than 600 million bricks annually. While technology has transformed how brick is made, Judd’s career illustrates the lasting value of experience, accountability and care in the brick industry.

True to form, Judd celebrated the milestone in his favorite way: digging into some Bojangles with his team before getting back to it. For his colleagues at Merry Oaks, the quick return to work was classic Harvis and a fitting close to a ceremony honoring the work ethic that has defined his career.
